The committee will:
  • Identify, review and recommend curriculum, instructional and assessment strategies and other procedures/resources that meet the unique academic and support needs of migrant and non-English speaking students.
  • Identify and support the provision of professional development for teachers and support professionals to enhance the teaching and learning of migrant and non-English speaking students, and interaction with their families.
  • Review data and other information on the academic performance of migrant and non-English speaking students, and assist in the identification of factors/conditions that present barriers to success.
  • Make recommendations for the elimination of barriers to the successful academic performance of english language learners.
  • Delegate one or more representatives to assist in the planning of the Human Rights/Excellence Awards Banquet.
  • Recruit nominees and select recipients for the MEA Excellence Awards and submit a recommendation for the David McMahon Award.
