Large Numbers Turn Out to Protest Snyder’s 3% Appeal in Statewide Events

Just as hundreds of protesters gathered elsewhere across the state, about 200 school employees, school retirees, and their supporters in Grand Rapids waved handmade signs and chanted at a busy intersection during rush hour on Wednesday to demand Gov. Rick Snyder stop appealing the 3 percent retirement case.

Across Michigan on Wednesday, Aug. 3, MEA and AFT Michigan members will gather together in their communities to protest Gov. Rick Snyder's frivolous appeal of a court ruling that school employees are owed 3% of their salary that the state illegally stole from paychecks.

What did you do this Fourth of July weekend?

While most MEA members were spending time with family and friends to celebrate the holiday, more than 250 are in Washington, D.C., this week doing the business of the organization at the NEA Representative Assembly.
