A vibrant education system is absolutely key to Michigan’s short and long term ecomonic viability and relevance in a global economy. Public education is the single greatest economic development tool there is. As a state we should be helping our teachers and other school personal to provide the very best service to students and their parents. Policies need to be enacted that would facilitate that effort instead of policies that needlessly penalize school personnel as we have seen too often in the last two years. At minimum, the legislature needs to put back the billion dollars it raided from the School Aid Fund last year. Going forward, we need to responsibly fund P-20 programs and support the education professionals on the front lines in ways that will enhance the future of all Michigan citizens.
