2007-2008 Charge:
To address policies, programs, practices and issues that relate to and impact
the education of migrant students and their families.
To help develop local capacity by the identification and development of strategies
and policies that build on our diversity.
Committee Charge: To address policies, programs, practices and issues that
relate to and impact the education of migrant students and their families.
The committee will:

Identify, review and recommend curriculum, instructional and assessment strategies and other procedures/resources that meet the unique academic and support needs of migrant and non-English speaking students.

Identify and support the provision of professional development for teachers and instructional support personnel to enhance the teaching and learning of migrant and non-English speaking students, and interaction with their families.

Review data and other information on the academic performance of migrant and non-English speaking students, and assist in the identification of factors/conditions that present barriers to success.

Make recommendations for the elimination of barriers to the successful academic performance of migrant and non-English speaking students.

Delegate one or more representatives to assist in the planning of the Human Rights Awards Banquet.

Manage the selection and award process for the Excellence in Migrant Education Award; work collaboratively with the Instruction and Professional Development Commission to select recipient for the Irma Ramos Bilingual Education Award and submit a recommendation for the David McMahon Award.
