Celebrate union workers on Labor Day

MEA members and their families are invited to join the Detroit Labor Day Parade on Monday, Sept. 5, and hear the President's message. If you're joining the parade, marchers should gather between 8 and 9 a.m. at the intersection of Woodward Ave. and Peterboro St. in Detroit.

MEA members will be walking with our union brothers and sisters from AFT-Michigan. The parade steps off at 9:30 a.m. and ends at the Labor Legacy Monument at the foot of Hart Plaza.

"Knowledge Has Value," staff will be handing out drawstring backpacks from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. on the St. Ignace side of the bridge before the start of the Bridge Walk at 7 a.m. Look for them in the pavilion where buses will be dropping off walkers. No protests are allowed on the bridge. For more information on the Bridge Walk, go to the Mackinac Bridge Web site.
