MEA Contests - MEA Voice Create-A-Cover Contest
Student designs should best express the student’s ideas on “What I like most about my school.” A winning design will be selected by a team of award-winning professional journalists, graphic designers, and MEA leaders. The top design will be featured on the cover of the June 2010 Mea Voice. Winners of each category will have their work featured inside the magazine. All winners – and their teachers – will receive $25 gift certificates to Barnes & Noble book store. Designs must be submitted by Jan. 30, 2010. How to enter: For purposes of our publication, completed artwork should be 8½" by 8½". Any media may be used. Artwork should not include text or the MEA Voice name. Entries that do not adhere to contest rules and guidelines will be disqualified. On an index card securely taped to the back of each design, clearly print:
Selections will be entered in one of the following groups for judging: Group A (grades K-4), Group B (grades 5-8), Group C (grades 9-12), Group D (electronic art). Designs must be received by Jan. 30, 2010. Please mail all entries flat in a large envelope to: MEA Voice Create-A-Cover Contest
Do you love to take pictures at your school or at your work site? Are Photos may be submitted at MEA Voice Contest through April 1, 2010. Photos submitted in the contest may be published in print or electronic communications distributed by MEA, including the MEA Voice magazine.
Book contest winners announced Five MEA members will receive copies of Bill Cecil’s book “Best Year Ever!” They were among many members who posted comments on MEA Facebook page about what they planned to do this school year to make 2009-2010 their best year ever -- everything from anti-bullying lessons to enthusiasm to developing professional development for colleagues. The winners are: Pam VanZuilen (Coldwater EA); Cecilia Thompson (Caro EA); Jason Valade (Mattawan EA); Michelle Cobb Endsley (Lakewood EA); and, Elizabeth Buckhold (Constantine EA).
