Delegate Dialogue — Tuesday, July 1
Marcia Rauschendorfer, Royal Oak Education Association
Teacher in Royal Oak for 22 years- Serving 3rd term as Executive Vice President of the ROEA
Why did you want to be a delegate to the NEA RA?
I wanted to be more involved and know more about what’s going on. I’ve only been a delegate to the MEA RA once, but I still wanted to get more involved and represent my fellow members.
What has surprised you most about the RA thus far?
"It’s not surprising how friendly people are here, but getting to meet such a variety of people has been interesting. On the flight here, there was a delegate from Alaska on one side of me and one from Illinois on the other. So as soon as I was sitting on the plane, I was talking with colleagues from other places in the U.S."
What do you think it will be like to walk onto the RA floor for the first time later this week?
"Being part of such a big group that’s so enthusiastic about education will be amazing. I’m looking forward to the energy that will be in that room and just being a part of it."
