MEA partners with ITS to offer online learning courses

MEA is partnering with Instructional Technology Services (ITS) to offer online professional development courses for teachers and Educational Support Professional.

For teachers, MEA’s Professional Development/Human Rights Department and ITS have created a customized, online learning opportunity that focuses on core academic content in a self-paced format.

Available now are the following modules:

  • Michigan Curriculum Framework.
  • K-8 Math Grade Level Content Expectations.
  • English/Language Arts.
  • Reading.
  • Mathematics.
  • Engaging Students in the Science Classroom.
  • Social Studies
  • Developing Webquests.

MEA members will be able to select as many learning modules as they wish and earn between 15 to 30 clock hours of professional development. They can take any or all of the modules for a total discounted cost of $79.

In addition, members will have the option of paying for one to two EDU 508 graduate credit hours from Central Michigan University.

ESP modules available

MEA members can take any or all of the following two-hour ESP modules for the same total rate of $79:

  • Interpersonal Communication.
  • Technology.
  • Learning Styles.
  • Instructional Issues.
  • Behavior Motivation Theory.

These courses have been approved for the ESP Certification Program curriculum.

ESP members also can take any courses offered under the teacher module, and teachers can take any courses in the ESP module.

Also, MEA members can access more than 200 online courses in a variety of formats—instructor-led, self-paced and learning library. Many of these courses can be taken for graduate credit through Central Michigan University.
