Education Reform Letter:

Writing a letter to the editor is a quick way to share your views with your community. This is a sample letter that you could personalize or use as a reference to write your own, unique letter.

Dear Editor:

For too long, we’ve considered short-term fixes and attacks on school employees to be “education reform”. It’s time we define education reform in terms of balanced solutions that will help students graduate high school and be prepared for college or other post-secondary opportunities. MEA has created a path to education reform with its  A+ Agenda. Go to www.mea.org to read their bold proposals. The A+ Agenda provides the way to real reform based on high-quality research and best practices. We would do well to follow their lead.

Sincerely,

Gov. Snyder's Budget Proposal:

Dear Editor:
It’s a shame that Gov. Snyder’s idea of a “shared sacrifice” is slashing education funding while continuing tax breaks for big business. When will politicians in Lansing stop trying to balance the budget on the backs of our children? These drastic cuts to public education will mean larger class sizes and less individual attention for students. That doesn’t sound like a “shared sacrifice” to me.

Sincerely,

MEA's A+ Agenda:

Dear Editor:

Michigan teachers and school employees like me are looking forward to working with Governor Rick Snyder and lawmakers to tackle the myriad of problems facing Michigan. Although we all have some differences, it’s critical that we come together and make sure that our local schools fulfill their mission of preparing students for college, the workplace and beyond. That’s why I support the Michigan Education Association’s “A+ Agenda,” which can be found at www.mea.org. We’re all in this together, and we all have a stake in getting our state back on track.

Sincerely,
