The Value of MEA

Big benefits

The MEA Member Benefits Card offers a full deck of savings, from hotel rooms and car rentals to pizzas and flowers, and much more. Use your card to reap savings on goods and services you use every day.

MEA Member Benefits CardMEA-Retired Vice President Judy Foster can pat her purse every day and thank the MEA Member Benefits Card for the money it keeps in her wallet.

“I use the card regularly, and it has saved me hundreds and hundreds of dollars,” said Foster of DeWitt. “We’ve traveled extensively in Florida, Tennessee, Texas, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, and we’ve saved 10, 20 percent—sometimes as much as 50 percent—on hotels and lodging.

“I’ve also used it at local restaurants to get discounts on pizza and burgers. You can find some great deals using the card.”

Foster encourages all members— retired and actives—to make good use of the MEA Member Benefits Card. “You can really find some great deals that will save you money,” she said.

MEA AdvantageAdds New Buffalo teacher Susan Pagen: “I just used it for a rental car in California. Saved over $50, and it was cheaper than any Internet specials or even the 10- percent-off cards we get in the mail.”

The MEA Member Benefits Card offers solid discounts in a variety of areas, from dining, golf and movies to everyday shopping, in addition to travel, hotels and car rentals.

Connie Boylan, president of the Traverse City Clerical, Assistants, Parapros and Secretaries Association, shops online at Coldwater Creek and J. Jill with her card.

“What’s great is you get a 10 percent discount with the card, in addition to any savings if the item is on sale,” she said. “I’ve saved sizeable amounts doing my holiday shopping with the card, and my members have, too.”

Lansing teacher Micheale Micol finds the member benefits card extremely useful.

“I regularly use my card to make purchases from Target, New York and Company, and some of the sports stores,” Micol said.

The card also has allowed her to receive discounted service from her cell phone provider.

“Anytime my husband I need to make a purchase at a new store, I log in to MEA to find out if the business is listed under the Member Benefits Card.”

North Adams Jerome EA President Mary Halley used the card to attend MEA’s Labor Practicum in Mt. Pleasant and Summer Leadership Conference in Saginaw this year.

“Both hotels (where I stayed) were not participating providers with our card, but when I showed them the card and explained why I was staying in town, both hotels gave me a discount,” said Halley.

Lansing teacher Diane Tarpoff offers a hearty “hooray for the MEA Member Benefits Card.” “When I visit my daughter in New York City, I use the card to get a substantial discount to the Lincoln Center AMC theater. We are able to see movies in Manhattan for the price we pay in East Lansing.”
