Ed Sarpolus new director of MEA Government Affairs

Ed SarpolusVeteran pollster Ed Sarpolus became MEA’s new director of Government Affairs on March 3, succeeding the late Al Short.

Sarpolus, who co-founded the respected Lansing-based research firm EPIC-MRA, will lead the association’s political and legislative work.

MEA has been a client of his EPIC-MRA firm since 1985, with Sarpolus helping to guide the association’s political, legislative and communications work.

“Ed has been a valuable counselor to MEA leaders and staff for two decades,” MEA President Iris K. Salters said. “We are proud to have him and his rich background as part of the MEA family.”

Widely respected in the education community, Sarpolus has worked with more than 150 public and intermediate school districts and education groups on millage campaigns and other education matters.

“I’ve always been involved with education,” he said. “This new job will allow me to continue my work with an organization that leads the way in serving Michigan’s students.”
