With the high demand for Detroit Tigers’ tickets this season, it’s a good thing you’re an MEA member! On Sunday, Aug. 10, the Tigers will host their sixth annual MEA Day—MEA members can order up to six tickets to that afternoon’s game against the Oakland A’s for only $20 each. That Sunday is also a Kid’s Day, so Ferris wheel and carousel rides are free and kids can run the bases after the game (weather permitting).

Go to www.mea.org/tigers to download the order form and be entered to win a special prize—the chance to throw out the first pitch at the Aug. 10 game! If it’s easier for you, feel free to use the form here to order your tickets. (You must go to www.mea.org/tigers to register to win the first-pitch contest.)

There are only 1,000 tickets being held for MEA members—tickets are expected to sell quickly, so order today! MEA members must use either this ticket order form or the one downloaded from www.mea.org/tigers to receive this special offer. This offer is not available at the Comerica Park Box Office or through any online ticket outlets. Orders must be mailed or faxed only. This offer is subject to availability—again, order early since tickets are limited.

8th annual golf outing to support MEA Scholarship Fund set June 23

Okay, the calendar says spring is here, although it may be a tad early to get out the shorts and short-sleeve shirts. It’s never too early, however, to start thinking about the eighth annual MEA Scholarship Fund golf outing.

This year’s outing—which raises funds for scholarships for college-bound seniors from Michigan public schools—is scheduled Monday, June 23, at Eldorado Golf Course in Mason, south of Lansing.

Your participation is needed to raise money for the MEA Scholarship Fund, which since 1997 has awarded more than 8th annual golf outing to support MEA Scholarship Fund set June 23 $200,000 in scholarships to deserving public school students from every part of the state.

In just seven years, the golf outings have given more than $257,000 to the MEA Scholarship Fund. With college tuition rates at all-time highs, your support of this outing is appreciated and important.

Golfers will tee off at 9 a.m. in the fourplayer scramble format. A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided at the course. A prize drawing will highlight the dinner program following play.

A portion of your $120 fee to play will be tax-deductible. Hole sponsor donations or direct donations to the MEA Scholarship Fund are completely tax-deductible.

Full fields have participated in the last two outings, so it’s important to secure a spot now in this June’s outing. Registration deadline is May 30. Entry fees must accompany registration.

Go to www.mea.org/golfouting for your registration form. Questions about the golf outing should be directed to Mary Phillips at 517/332-6551 or 800/292-1934, e-mail mphillips@mea.org.
